Eco-friendly Dog Dishes

Serve up pup's favorite meal in an Eco-friendly bowl...

Bamboo

The Green Pet Shop Bamboo Dog Dish

Made from bamboo fibers - natural, renewable and biodegradable - this eco-friendly dog dish comes in three colors (brown, green, orange) and two sizes (small holding about two cups, large about four cups). Though they are wood-like in material, so perhaps not a top choice for chewers, they are stated to be dishwasher safe for thorough cleaning. Available on Amazon for just under $15, affordable enough to give one a try.

From classically styled dishes to funky shapes and colors, Beco Pets offers a variety of food and water containers to fit most any home décor. Made of bamboo fibers, cornstarch, plant-based resin and rice hulls, the dishes are good for the planet as well as your pup. Both small (0.8L, 15cm wide) and large (1.65L, 18.75cm) sizes are available in a solid costal gray, midnight blue or fresh mint or patterned honeycomb or ocean waves, each with a creamy-white interior. Priced at around $15-20 (depending on current conversion rates), they're affordable enough to pick up a bamboo food scoop at the same time. Beco Pets does not currently ship to all countries (including the US), but you can source their products through the Free the Ocean Site, as well as Chewy.

Stainless Steel

Basis Pet Stainless Steel Dog Bowls

Made in the USA of 18/8 stainless steel, tested to be human-grade in terms of safe lead, mercury and cadmium levels, these stylish dog bowls are durable, easy to keep clean and can even be put in the dishwasher. Completely stainless steel, they're also fully recyclable, though can be subject to sliding across the floor more easily. If you'd like a holder to keep the dishes in place for a zealous eater, Basis Pet also offers stands fitted to hold the dishes (though they are of plastic).

The bowls come in sizes ranging from small (5.75 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches deep, holding about 1.5 cups) to extra-large (10.5 inches in diameter and 3.5 inches deep, holding about 12 cups), with pricing ranging from about $18 for a small bowl to $35 for the extra large bowl. And, conveniently, for the multi-pup home, they offer discounted pricing for 2- and 4-packs of the dishes.

PetFusion Premium Brushed Anti-Tip Stainless Steel Dog Bowls

Another stainless steel option, tested to be restaurant-grade safe, these bowls feature a flared outer ring for stability and a bonded silicone ring for reduced slipping. The brushed aluminum finish matches many kitchen appliances with a similar appearance, and a little white vinegar can easily keep them looking like new (they are also dishwasher safe),

The dishes are available in two sizes: 14 ounce (8.2 inches in diameter and 2 inches deep, holding about 1.75 cups) for around $29 and 32 ounce (10.1 inches in diameter and 2.1 inches deep, holding about 12 cups) for around $22 at the time of this writing.

Dylan Kendall Eco Pet Bowls

Can't decide between bamboo and stainless steel? Or looking for a fun and funky dish that will hold up to the test of time? California's Dylan Kendall has an adorable collection of bamboo dog bowls with stainless steel liners. Made from 70% bamboo fibers, these dishes are FDA approved and tested to be BPA and Phthalates free. The bamboo outer holder features an arched foot, helpful for picking up and putting down the dishes, and a rubber base for skid reduction.

Available in small (3/4 cup), medium (1.5 cups) and large (3 cups), pricing ranges from about $12 for a small to $18 for a large. The hardest part will be deciding on a design: Bone Appétit, Fintastic Fish, Riding the Wave or On the Dot! Though they are hand-wash only, the cute designs will keep you smiling on behalf of the planet and your pup~
